The State Bank of India (SBI) has invited online applications from candidates who are in the age limit of 21 years to 30 years and have completed graduation to fill vacant Probationary Officers (PO) posts. The selection procedure includes three stages- Prelims, Mains, and Interview. The candidates who clear all stages of the selection process will be appointed for Probationary Officers posts in the pay scale of Rs 48,480/- and are liable to be posted anywhere in India. The State Bank of India (SBI) conducts the SBI PO Exam every year to select eligible candidates for the Probationary Officers (PO) vacancies in different branches of the State Bank of India. SBI PO Vacancy 2026

Last year, State Bank of India had announced 541 vacancies for Probationary Officers (PO) in SBI. Out of the total vacancies, 500 were regular vacancies and 41 were backlog vacancies. The vacancy details have been released with the SBI PO Notification pdf, which were as follows-

SBI PO Eligibility Criteria

The candidate must fulfil the following two criteria to be eligible for the SBI PO 2026 Exam: SBI PO Educational Qualification The candidate must be a graduate in any discipline from a recognised University or any equivalent qualification recognised as such by the Central Government. Those who are in the Final year/Semester of their Graduation may also apply provisionally, subject to the condition that, if called for an interview, they must produce proof of having passed the graduation examination. Candidates with an Integrated Dual Degree (IDD) certificate must ensure that the date of passing the IDD is as mentioned in the notification. Candidates with a Chartered Accountant certification may also apply. SBI PO Age Limit The candidate must be between 21 Years to 30 Years i.e. candidates must have been born not later than 01.04.2005 and not earlier than 02.04.1996 (both days inclusive).

How to Apply for SBI PO Recruitment 2026?

The candidates willing to appear for SBI PO 2026 have to submit their online applications at www.sbi.co.in before the last date to apply.

  1. Browse the official website of the State Bank of India (SBI) at www.sbi.co.in.
    Scroll down the page and click on Careers, then a new page with url https://sbi.co.in/web/careers opens on the screen.

  2. After clicking on the current opening, a list of current recruitments is displayed.
    Now click on “Recruitment for Probationary Officer”, download the notification pdf and check all details mentioned in it. 
  3. After that, click on “Apply Online” and start with the registration process.
    Enter the required personal details, educational qualifications, and other information as asked in the application form.

  4. Attach the documents, signature, and photograph in the permissible size.
    Pay the required application fee through online mode.
    Submit the duly filled application form and save it for future reference.

Selection Process

The SBI PO recruitment exam is the premier among the public-sector bank exams in India. It is considered a little difficult compared to the bank entrance exams conducted by IBPS. The recruitment process for Probationary Officers at SBI consists of 3 stages:

  2. Main Examination
  3. GD/Interview

SBI PO 2026 Exam Pattern

The SBI PO selection process consists of 3 stages. The written examinations are conducted online, followed by an interview round. The structure of exams is as follows: Phase-1: SBI PO Preliminary Examination This is an online examination where the candidates must solve the question paper in one 1 hour for 100 marks. A negative marking of ¼ marks for each incorrect answer will be applicable. The test consists of 3 sections. Candidates must know that the sectional cut-off in the Preliminary Exam has been removed and the overall score of all the sections will be considered for selection to the next round. SBI PO 2026 Exam Preparation

SBI PO 2026 Salary Structure

As per the notification, the starting basic pay of a Probationary Officer (PO) is Rs 48,480/- (with 4 advance increments) in the scale of 48480-2000/7-62480-2340/2-67160-2680/7-85920 applicable to Junior Management Grade Scale-I. The official will also be eligible for D.A, H.R.A/ Lease rental, C.C.A, Medical and other allowances & perquisites as per rules in force from time to time. The approximate CTC at initial scale of at Mumbai Centre is 20.43 Lacs.
Note- The candidates who will be selected have to execute a Bond for a value of Rs. 2 Lacs to serve the Bank for a minimum period of 3 years at the time of joining as Probationary Officer in State Bank of India.

SBI PO 2026 Exam Centre

While filling the online application form, applicants are required to enter their preferred exam centres for SBI PO 2026, based on their convenience. However, the Bank may allot an exam centre other than the choices made by a candidate if there is non-availability of seats at preferred venues. All the applicants have to provide 1 preference each for the Prelims exam and the Main exam.

State Bank of India may arrange pre-examination training for SC/ST/Religious Minority Community candidates at certain centres as per the guidelines issued by the Government of India. The initiative has been taken to assist such aspirants in preparations if they cannot afford to enrol themselves at coaching centres. The highlights of SBI PO Pre-exam training is given below. SBI PO Pre-exam training is usually a 6-day program. Pre-exam training for SBI PO 2026 is a kind of an orientation program for reserved and minority category candidates. In the training sessions, candidates are taught some important questions and topics. The pre-exam training is conducted across India at different centres. Candidates belonging to the above categories can avail of the training at their own cost by indicating the same against the relevant column while applying online. SBI may add additional centres or may remove some of the centres indicated for training. Candidates opting for pre-examination training should download their call letter for training by entering their registration number and password/ date of birth from the Bank’s website. No hard copy of the call letter will be sent by post.

SBI PO 2026 Cut Off

SBI PO Cut-Off for the year 2026 will be declared by the State Bank of India after the results of each phase have been declared. The Cut-Off for the preliminary phase of examination will be declared after the result for the same has been declared. Similarly, a cut-off for the SBI PO Mains Exam will be declared after the result for the same has been declared by the State Bank of India.
