Every year, the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts Multi-Tasking (Non-Technical) Staff and Havaldar (CBIC & CBN) Examination to recruit candidates for General Central Service Group-C non-gazetted, non-ministerial posts in various ministries, departments, and offices of the Government of India. For the year 2025-26, SSC has announced a total of 7948 vacancies, out of which 6810 are MTS vacancies and 1138 are Havaldar vacancies.
The SSC MTS Exam Date 2025 has been officially announced on 2nd January 2026 along with self-slot selection date. As per the notice, the SSC MTS Exam is to be held from 4th February 2026 onwards. The Multi-Tasking (Non-Technical) Staff (MTS) Examination is a national-level exam conducted by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) to recruit candidates for various non-technical positions in different ministries, departments, and offices of the Government of India. Every year, lakhs of SSC aspirants, after completing their 10th class, appear for the exam to get shortlisted. Staff Selection Commission conducts the SSC MTS (Multi-Tasking Staff and Havaldar Exam) every year, and the selection process is as follows:
Paper 1 (online) for both MTS and Havaldar posts
PET/ PST (only for the post of Havaldar)

There are three major criteria that a candidate is required to fulfill to be eligible for the SSC MTS 2025 Exam. The Staff Selection Commission will hold a competitive examination for recruitment of Multi Tasking Staff in Pay Band-1 (Rs 5200-20200) + Grade Pay Rs 1800, (Revised Pay Scale after 7th CPC: Pay Level in Pay Matrix – Level-1), a General Central Service Group „C‟ Non-Gazetted, Non-Ministerial post in various Ministries/ Departments/ Offices of the Government of India, in different States/ Union Territories. According to the 7th pay commission, the in-hand SSC MTS salary lies in the range of 18,000/ to 22,000/ per month with a pay band of (Rs. 5200 – 20200) depending of the job post and city allocated.

Staff Selection Commission will upload the SSC MTS Tier 1 Answer Key on the official website around a month after the exam is conducted. SSC MTS Provisional Answer Key is released first followed by the final answer key. No answer key will be released for the SSC MTS Tier-2 and Skill test. The candidates have to download the SSC MTS Answer Key using their registration number & password from the official website only
SSC MTS Cut-off is the minimum score that aspirants taking the exam will have to obtain in order to move to the next stage of the exam. The cutoff will be released twice, first for Paper 1 (Tier-1) and second for Paper 2(Tier-2). Cutoffs are released along with the result declaration
